  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders within and external to the organization to develop business opportunities for UNCC

  • Volunteer  time – 24 hours per week – flexible days and hours, perfect for students, new graudates, and parents hours

 

About UNCC

UNCC’s programs empower people to maintain their independence, connect with their community, manage their health and lifestyle and address the challenges that life can present.

We provide programs and services to thousands of community members in the areas of  vulnerable aged people, children, family & individual support, mental health, disability, housing & homelessness, drug & alcohol recovery and refugees in detention center connecting them with relatives . Through our Neighbourhood office in Thika, Makogeni and Community Development programs, we also offer emergency relief, social inclusion activities, food security and multicultural support through our referral systems.

 

About the role

Content creation, online community management and assistance with marketing campaign management are the key focus areas of the Communications and Marketing Officer role.

The Communications and Marketing team has the privilege of helping  UNCC's amazing clients tell their inspiring stories, and this role works closely with the Communications and Marketing Volunteer  to ensure that those stories are heard loud and clear.

You will be instrumental in building awareness of  UNCC’s brand along with our programs and activities across offline and online platforms including social media, websites, EDM and print. This role is responsible for creating compelling content for all communications channels, across social media, EDMs, website and print media, in line with wider marketing campaign objectives.

There is a strong stakeholder management aspect to this role, with emphasis on developing UNCC’s online communities to drive online engagement, as well as nurturing key business relationships with partners and supporters of UNCC’s work. You may also occasionally provide coordination support for community activities and events.

This is a role that requires some flexibility; ideally you would spread your 15 hours per week across three days. However, flexible working arrangements can be provided in return, with the option to work from home for one of your rostered days per week. Perfect for , student,  new graduate, or parents looking for volunteers role-time work that fits in with school commitments.

 

About You

Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • Digital marketing and content creation experience

  • Highly developed written and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms and digital communications platforms:

    • Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Canva, Wordpress, Mailchimp, Microsoft Office, Buffer (or equivalent social media scheduling software)

    • Some proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign, is desirable but not essential

  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Initiative and ability to work independently as well as part of a small busy team is essential

  • Empathy, cultural awareness and sensitivity, and a desire to make a difference in the community through your work

  • copies of certificates
